  • How long does it take to build a new home?

    The timeline for a new home build can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project, site conditions and approvals. On average, most builds take between 6 to 12 months from start to finish. This includes time for design planning, council approvals and construction. It’s important to work with a builder who provides a clear timeline upfront and keeps you updated at every stage to avoid unexpected delays.

  • Do I need council approval for a new build?

    Yes, almost all new home builds require some form of council approval or a complying development certificate (CDC), depending on your local area and the type of build. Your builder should manage this process for you, ensuring all designs and documentation are up to code and submitted correctly. This step is crucial to avoid fines, delays or compliance issues down the line.

  • Can I make changes once the build starts?

    While it’s best to finalise your plans before construction begins, changes can still be made during the build—but they may affect the timeline and budget. These are called “variations,” and your builder should walk you through the cost and impact of each change before moving forward. A flexible, communicative builder will help you navigate these decisions smoothly.
